KEEPING STRAIGHT & SOBER

When does chemical use take place?

    When you're...
    • Hungry?
    • Angry?
    • Lonely?
    • Tired?
    • Bored?

  • Change your playmates:  Use of chemicals is often supported in direct and indirect ways by the friends you keep.  It is especially important early on in sobriety to NOT be around old friends who use.
  • Change your playground:  This can be difficult for musicians but use is also encouraged by WHERE you spend your time.  Find some new places to spend your spare time.

  • Change your playthings:  Users are often caught up in the ritual of use which can include certain kinds of music, objects (pipes/needles), decorations, etc. Clean out your house and get rid of all those things which are associated with chemical use.
